THE GARDEN DESIGN COLLECTIVE is a vibrant community where we learn about one garden design topic each month. This slower pace allows us to dive deep and explore new and familiar topics from different perspectives.
Garden design is such a large, exciting profession and I've always dreamed of focusing on one aspect at a time with a diverse group of fellow designers. Collectively, our fabulous experiences strengthen our design perspective as a whole. The power of the group is amazing.
SLOW + STEADY
It's important to note that this membership will not cover all aspects of design in a short period like a course would. This will be slow and steady over many months.
View this membership as an extension of your design education (whether you've taken college classes, online classes or are self-taught through books). This space allows you to explore topics that you may not necessarily read on your own, plus provides a community so you can ask questions about your own design work and business.
YOUR TIME COMMITMENT
This is totally up to you. You may simply want to read the new Garden Design Guide each month to learn about a new design topic (30 minutes) or perhaps you'd like to try the related activity (1-3 hours) or maybe you'd enjoy sitting in on our monthly live meetup or guest speaker presentation with a cup of coffee to learn about the topic at hand (1-2 hours)....or try them all. See this as a place you can come and go, learn and discuss, dive into past topics as needed (in our awesome library), learn about new ones, plus network with designers around the world. Use it as it best fits your needs as a growing designer.
HOW DOES THIS MEMBERSHIP WORK?
MONTHLY FORMAT
At the beginning of each month a new garden design topic is released. Content is shared the following ways:
Garden Design Guide (a pretty PDF)
An Educational Video (or other engaging content)
Simple Design Activity
Live MeetUp
An Awesome Community (This includes all sorts of design topics, plus you can share your designs for feedback from peers)

We include a BOOK CLUB topic once a year if you're someone that likes to keep up with contemporary ideas in landscape design
We also have a TEMPLATE LIBRARY full of graphic templates that you can trace or use as inspiration in your own designs

As a bonus we often have guest speakers to discuss business topics, industry resources, or simply give another angle on the topic at hand.
THE START OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Once you join, you will have access to the entire membership area. This includes the welcome section, online community, and DESIGN LIBRARY. You'll also fill out a questionnaire so I can learn about you + help with preparation of future materials. On April 3 at 2 PM US Central we will have a formal welcome for everyone (this will also be recorded).
All members are invited to meet with me in a smaller group at the start of your membership, so I can learn about your design journey and so you can also meet a few of your peers right away.
Our current members in THE GARDEN DESIGN COLLECTIVE are excited to meet you. They are currently learning about PATIO DESIGN (that's the March topic!), so you're welcome to jump in and get oriented as we discuss this fun style. There is no pressure about "getting caught up". Remember, this pace is slow and steady. Take in what you need as a designer and enjoy the discussions.
The Garden Design Collective has been a valuable source of inspiration and community to me as I continue in my garden design journey. I highly recommend it whether you are a new designer who is just starting out or a seasoned designer who is looking to invigorate your design skills and be inspired.
